Ah, plenty of Sims news recently!
TS1 and TS2 Legacy Editions
The Sims team announced a re-release of TS1 and TS2. I am not going to lie, that birthday bundle is looking tempting. It's a good price, contains multiple expansions and stuff packs for both TS1 and TS2. Now, I'll admit I'm more interested in TS2 than than TS1. However it is a better deal to buy the bundle. HOWEVER. Apparently, there's been major bugs and glitches with this re-release. So I'm hesitant to spend any money (even though it's only $40 which isn't a ton...) on a game that may not run for me. Looks like another EA-typical buggy cash grab, sadly.
The trailer was just so cool though! There's a ton of little details in it... I catch new things every time I watch it! The "brace yourself" at the end is such a nice callback to the TS1 trailers, too.
A patch for TS3?
Apparently, there's a patch out for TS3, and yup, I can see that my TS3 game wants an update... I haven't installed it yet, so no thoughts. I believe it's allegedly supposed to improve performance? Well, I'll believe that when I see it. Still, it's good to see TS3 getting some love... I just hope EA won't mess with the game too much and cause more bugs and glitches. TS3 already had enough of those.
Businesses and Hobbies.
No. Just no.
This should have been a Get To Work pack refresh, given that businesses really are mostly a part of Get to Work! Businesses and Hobbies also seems to be riffing off of TS3's Ambitions (tattooing) and TS2's Freetime (pottery and hobbies in general) and Open For Business (businesses). Which given that TS4's Get to Work is already reminiscent of Ambitions and Open For Business, I really feel like this new Hobbies and Businesses pack should be a Get to Work refresh. Or at the very least, the improved businesses ought to be. Maybe then they could just give us a hobbies only, gameplay heavy, gamepack. But of course, they won't do that, because they'll make more money this way.
The new pack looks lacking in gameplay, to be frank, they don't seem to have that many new skills and hobbies, so I will probably not be buying this one. Though of course, you all are welcome to watch the trailer and decide for yourself if it looks good or bad.
