If you want to get the feel of what's going on in various communities, I can suggest subscribing to fandomcalendar where multi-fandom events taking place also outside of DW (like AO3 etc) are announced.
And you can check/subscribe to the BtVS/AtS daily newsletter on su_herald, if you wish.
